Arterial WIP Gallery

I was asked if I could do a medically themed image for a commission and I’d already had an idea like this brewing so I’m going ahead with it.  I asked what was too far, she said disembowelment.  I knew I wanted to explore medical themes in my work without resorting to images of the human heart and the ribcage and stuff, those have been done to death. Spines and skulls are cool, but they feel kind of heavy metal to me.

But the arterial and vascular system…  It looks like string, comes in beautiful red and blue, and is a way to express the inside of the body without ever actually having to look at anything inside the body.  All the evisceration without the gore.
