Blocking out color. My grandmother loved white. She said on white, you can see the dirt better and, therefore, you could clean it better.  Sounds reasonable to me. You can trust white. If it looks clean, it is clean. Because I’ve got so much white in this one I’m taking the string back to red.  Excuse the resemblance to connective tissues if your imagination takes you there.

The birds are robin doves. Haven’t you heard of them? They are made of my imagination.

Also, my grandmother’s eye coloring was really special, and this doesn’t even begin to capture it. Blue ring around a brown center. The blue ring was so shocking, and gave her a doe-eyed dilated look from far away, and a much more intense impression up close.  I’m going to try to duplicate it here as I refine this one.
