A Radio from Radio
After the Melt exhibition opened I sold a number of prints and decided that I wanted to sent a little special thank you to the people who’d bought them so I set out to make a cool little sticker to include in the mailers:

While I was doing the base sketch I knew I wanted a roundish speaker, and mouths are round. speakers make noise and mouths also make noise, so the teeth were an addition that just seemed to make perfect sense at the time.

inked it out and did some basic shading. I almost thought it was done, as the sticker was really meant to be more of a sketch than a finished piece.

I really deviated from my initial conception when I started to add color.

For some reason his eyes are much happier when blank so I took out the pupils, deepened the shadows. The sticker paper I have is a really nice matte surface, not the best ever but pretty robust, and the deep shadows came out really super well. I love them and don’t want to send them because I want to keep them all (I did package them in of course because the thank yous are well deserved!
